Vegan News UK – Why the Lotus Animal Sanctuary is so important
Animals deserve a good quality of life. We’re not just talking about treating your pets well, we’re talking about animals that, for too long, have been seen as a source of food or materials. At Bohemian Hippy, we want these animals to live full and fulfilled lives, to exist in peace and happiness. That’s why we are working hard to establish the Lotus Animal Sanctuary, a vegan sanctuary for rescue animals.
What’s the difference between a standard sanctuary and a vegan sanctuary like Lotus? Put simply, regular sanctuaries only take in abused animals and do not rescue those about to be slaughtered. At Lotus Animal Sanctuary however, we will try our best to rescue, and provide a home for, all animals regardless of their circumstances.
Our aim with the Lotus Animal Sanctuary is twofold. Firstly, it’s to provide that safe space for the animals to live and love as they should do. Secondly, we want to introduce these animals properly to the public. At Lotus Animal Sanctuary, you will be able to interact with these ex-‘food’ animals, and can see for yourself just how loving and vital these cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and turkeys, amongst other animals, truly are.
It’s our hope that by providing a platform for better interaction we can help both adults and children that these animals are no different to the ones that we share our homes and lives with on a regular basis. Children especially have so little interaction with these creatures outside of a supermarket or restaurant environment, so giving them the ability to see their capacity to give and receive love, and their individual personalities, could have a hugely positive effect.
It’s no secret to those who regularly read vegan news UK that the presence of animals can also have a profound effect on our mental health. That’s why the Lotus Animal Sanctuary will also have a (human) health centre. Alongside spending soothing time with our gorgeous animals, you will be able to book a massage and other holistic treatments. What could possibly be better for the soul?
Of course it goes without saying that this vision for the Lotus Animal Sanctuary, where we can rescue any and all animals who are facing a life that is cut cruelly short and give them the home they deserve, is still a little ways off. It takes a lot of money to open and run a vegan animal sanctuary of the type that we aspire to create with Lotus Animal Sanctuary, but we are trying our best to make it a reality as soon as possible.
